A cloth diaper or a cloth nappy is a reusable diaper made from natural fibers, man - made fabrics or a combination of both. They are easy to use, safe for babies and much more affordable than using disposable diapers.
Even though cloth diapers cost more upfront, they save you a considerable amount in the long run. You only need between 12 to 16 cloth diapers all together (Rs. 750 * 16 = Rs. 9,000). While you will need between 4000 and 6000 disposable diapers at Rs. 10 each (Rs. 10 * 5000 = Rs. 50,000). Even after including washing and maintenance costs, the amount you save is ample.
Disposable diapers are the 3rd biggest commodity filling up our landfills. Babies on disposable diapers will product near to a TON of diaper waste before they are potty trained. They also use 20 times more raw materials to make than cloth diapers do. Additionally, it will take 250 to 300 years for a single disposable diaper to break down in a landfill. While cloth diapers are used numerous times before discarding to landfills where they will take only 5 to 6 months to break down.
YES! Babies who are cloth diapered tend to get fewer rashes than babies in disposables owing to no chemicals, no plastics, safer materials, and shorter changing times, A lot of moms arent comfortable with chemicals like dioxin and gels found in disposables, next to their baby's bottom as some may have allergic reactions to them.
Yes, this is mostly true. Disposable diapers pull moisture away from your baby's bottom immediately after they expel waste to keep them comfortable. While this certainly has it's advantages, babies don't tend to learn to connect the feeling of a full bladder with the followed wetness in their diaper. Modern cloth diapers are designed in a way to keep your baby comfortable enough after they use their diapers with the help of a thin stay dry layer, while still making them bladder-aware.

Cleaning baby poop in cloth diapers isn't as complicated as it seems, so don't worry!
Place any solids in the toilet and give the diaper shells and inserts a quick rinse under a tap to dilute the residue as part of the pre wash routine. Proceed on to further wash routine steps or store diapers properly if in between washes. Store diaper in a dry pail or wet bag between washes. This will prolong the lifespan of fabrics, limit smells and help to avoid any nasty build-ups. Do not leave longer than 2 days.
